The highlights 2022

We look back on an eventful 2022 and are pleased that it was a good year for bearded vultures in Switzerland. Let's review the bearded vulture year with some highlights and finish with a video to enjoy a selection of bearded vulture observations sent to us:

• 21 wild-hatched bearded vultures - With 21 successful broods, 138 wild-hatched bearded vultures have fledged in Switzerland since the first release, more than in any other Alpine country>>.
• Bearded vulture rescued - Unfortunately, there was no reintroduction in the usual framework in 2022. Instead, we managed to recapture the severely injured female Donna Elvira in time, again to nurse her back to health and again to release>>.
• Protecting against collisions - We have developed a model that shows where bearded vultures fly most frequently. The model helps minimize the risk of accidents for bearded vultures when siting wind turbines keep>>.
• An award for the Foundation - The recognition award from the government of Graubünden for our work has made us exceptionally happy. The canton of Graubünden is now home to the largest number of Swiss bearded vultures.
• 380 observations - As many observations on bearded vultures have sent us reporters in 2022. In doing so, they make a valuable contribution to our ability to monitor bearded vulture population trends. The film at the end of the enumeration shows some of the very successful recordings.
• Volunteers support the bearded vultures - During the annual Bearded Vulture Count Day, numerous volunteers have been on the lookout for bearded vultures. Thanks to their valuable efforts, they help us to be able to monitor the bearded vulture population.
• Our annual report in a new dress - For our 30th anniversary, we have redesigned the annual report. It now provides even more information and attractive images.
• More and more bearded vulture fans - Currently, more than 4000 subscribers follow our newsletter. We are very pleased about this great interest!
• 7 sponsorships & many donations -  Our work would not be possible without the many donors. 7 people also supportun us with name sponsorships. Thank you very much for your support!
