Sardona: July/August 2010
Sardona seems to have a distinct temperament. Sardona flew high even on his first flight, much earlier than we have become used to from other releases! With this, he disappeared quickly behind the many crests and peaks in the vicinity of the release eyrie. Naturally, this made us slightly nervous, when the young whippersnapper slipped out of our sight for long time periods. We were especially worried about the fact that Sardona hardly ate from the food laid out for him.
However, we soon noticed that the young, male Bearded Vulture was finding his own food. In the game-rich hunting area of the Graue Hörner, where Sardona was circling about, the table was so heavily laden that the young bird soon did not need us to feed him.
