Madagaskar: May to August 2013
Mid-May we received the good news that Madagaskar had been spotted in the Weisstannental and had, therefore, found the way back to the Sarganserland. The pleasure was even greater when Madagaskar became a regular guest in the rewilding area. Again and again he inspired us with his flying skills and when he was mobbed by a raven he demonstrated impressively how nimble a Bearded Vulture is in the air.
Special moments occurred when Madagaskar, curious as Bearded Vultures are, flew directly over our observation post and passed close to us. He was so close that it was possible for us to clearly recognise his bleached feathers.
